Looking for some great ideas for summer activities to entertain your kids without spending a fortune? Well we have found some great ideas for you to try this summer!
Post flyers or signs around your neighborhood for the little ones to decorate their bikes! Decorate them with flyers, stickers, streamers, balloons, and anything you would like! Set a time for them to all cruise around and show off their rides while the parents applaud and take pictures!
Create an Obstacle Course
Create an obstacle course in your backyard with hula hoops, jump ropes, a hose, a sprinkler, or anything you can think of! Let your kids and neighborhood kids go through the obstacle course while you time them! A little friendly competition is always fun!
Neighborhood Game Night
Everyone remembers childhood memories playing games in their neighborhood like kick the can and ghost in the graveyard! They are a blast! Designate one day each week where you and your neighbors come together to play a game like kickball, softball, capture the flag, kick the can, and ghost in the graveyard! The parents can switch off as referees each time! For rules to tons of different games click here.
Hopefully you will get a chance this summer to try some of these great ideas! While making lasting memories, you and your kids will definitely be having a blast!
Now that we have hit another cold spell with rainy showers (and even snow in some places!) we thought it was high time to blog about one of our favorite indoor activities… cuddling up and watching a movie. With kids we’re sure that you’re quite familiar with the new family friendly releases. But what about the classics? Introduce your family to these cinematic gems this rainy, cold spring and get everyone in the mood to sing in the rain.
With the temperatures increasing outside and some of us wanting to “shed” a few pounds to get ready for swimsuit season it can be hard not to run for the ice cream in the freezer! Luckily, a great alternative is a smoothie! Not only is this delicious smoothie simple to make but it is vegetarian, gluten free, and low fat! Better yet, it tastes like dessert!
1 cup frozen unsweetened strawberries
3/4 cup milk (any type of milk will work)
1 tsp. butter extract (found in the baking aisle typically or can be substituted for vanilla extract but won’t have the exact same shortcake taste)
How to make:
Add all of the ingredients to the blender and pulse the mixture until smooth. Pour into your glass and enjoy! We hope you find this smoothie to be as delicious as we do! It is definitely a great substitute during the summer compared to your typical ice cream shake! What are your favorite smoothies to make?!
